Horse Racing Betting & Odds

Q: Horse Racing Betting Markets & Odds

Sky Bet offers a wide range of horse racing betting markets for you to get involved in, depending on your choice. The most common is a win single bet, where you back a horse to win its selected race. Another common bet placed by horse racing punters is an each-way bet. This involves two parts, a win single and a place single. For the place part of your bet to be a winning selection, your horse just needs to finish the placings. This is often the front three, but it is dependent on the size of the field. For larger races, it can even be up to 7. A multiple bet in horse racing involves more than one selection. If you place a double, you require two chosen horses both to be successful, a treble requires three chosen horses to prevail, and so on. As well as the above, you will also find Special markets available, similar to football betting . These include daily specials and Price Boosts around popular jockeys, trainers and meetups.

Q: What is a lucky 15 bet in horse racing?

A lucky 15 involves four selections, with 15 parts of the bet (4 x singles, 6 x doubles, 4 trebles and 1 four-fold accumulator).

Q: What is an each-way bet in horse racing?

A bet that involves two parts: a win and a place.

Q: What does SP mean in horse racing betting?

SP stands for the starting price of a horse in a race.

Q: What is a cover bet horse racing?

This is a bet on a horse to win but also to come second, thus increasing your chances of a payout.

Q: Sky Bet & York Races - Key Information

Sky Bet is the title sponsor of the Ebor Festival, York Racecourse's flagship four-day meeting and one of the biggest events in the British Flat racing calendar. The Sky Bet Ebor Festival runs from Wednesday 19 to Saturday 22 August 2026 at York Racecourse, Knavesmire, York, YO23 1EX, with gates opening at 11:00 AM daily and full live coverage on ITV1 and Racing TV. Each day features a Group 1 headline race - the Juddmonte International Stakes (Wednesday), Yorkshire Oaks (Thursday), and Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (Friday) - building to Ebor Day on Saturday, headlined by the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap, Europe's richest Flat handicap race. Sky Bet offers markets across every race, from win and each-way bets to forecasts, tricasts, and ante-post, and typically runs enhanced places and price boosts during the festival. For those attending in person, the dress code is smart casual in general areas (with a jacket, collared shirt, and tie required for gentlemen in the County Stand), and under 18s enter free with a paying adult, though betting remains strictly 18+.
