Sky Bet offers a wide range of horse racing betting markets for you to get involved in, depending on your choice. The most common is a win single bet, where you back a horse to win its selected race.
Another common bet placed by horse racing punters is an each-way bet. This involves two parts, a win single and a place single. For the place part of your bet to be a winning selection, your horse just needs to finish the placings. This is often the front three, but it is dependent on the size of the field. For larger races, it can even be up to 7.
A multiple bet in horse racing involves more than one selection. If you place a double, you require two chosen horses both to be successful, a treble requires three chosen horses to prevail, and so on.
As well as the above, you will also find Special markets available, similar to football betting. These include daily specials and Price Boosts around popular jockeys, trainers and meetups.
A lucky 15 involves four selections, with 15 parts of the bet (4 x singles, 6 x doubles, 4 trebles and 1 four-fold accumulator).
A bet that involves two parts: a win and a place.
SP stands for the starting price of a horse in a race.
This is a bet on a horse to win but also to come second, thus increasing your chances of a payout.
National Hunt / Jump Racing
The Cheltenham Festival, run at Cheltenham Racecourse, is the biggest week of the year in National Hunt racing. The annual meeting takes place over five days in March, with the Cheltenham Gold Cup being the feature race of the week. This meeting involves the best horses from their respective divisions in Jump Racing.
The Grand National, held at Aintree Racecourse in early April, is the most famous steeplechase in the world. This marathon contest is a race loved by so many across the nation and worldwide.
Flat Racing
The Derby, held at Epsom in early June, is the biggest Flat race in the UK. It is the most prestigious of the five British Classics. The roll of honour includes some of the best Flat horses in history.
Royal Ascot is one of the highlights of the Flat racing calendar. It takes place over five days in June, and it attracts some of the best horses in the world.
Breeders’ Cup - known as world championships in the sport, the Breeders’ Cup takes place annually in early November in North America. The venue changes each year, and with so much prize money on offer, the best horses from Europe, Asia and Australia travel to take on the leading North American horses.
The Cheltenham November Meeting 2026 runs across three days, from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November, at Cheltenham Racecourse. Known as "Racing's Ultimate Weekender", it launches the National Hunt season with a different theme each day: Friday's Countryside Day features Grade 2 Novice Chases, hound displays and a live Preview Show; Saturday's Super Saturday is headlined by the Paddy Power Gold Cup – one of the early season's most prestigious staying handicap chases – alongside the weekend's peak racing; and Sunday's Carnival Sunday brings the Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle, Shetland Pony and mascot races, live music and a Family Fun Zone. Tickets start from £13.50 and vary by day and enclosure, with a Super Saturday ticket unlocking 20% off a Friday or Sunday Club Enclosure ticket. Spectators can choose from the premium Club Enclosure, the social hub of Tattersalls or the budget-friendly Best Mate Enclosure, with hospitality upgrades including The Racing Lounge, Racecourse View and the Guinness Grandstand, plus themed dining with course views at the Gold Cup, National Hunt Room and Festival restaurants. Families are well catered for, particularly on Carnival Sunday with the Cadbury Family Fun Zone, Shetland Pony races, mascot races and live music. Expect typical November weather of 7–11°C highs and 1–6°C lows with possible showers, and bear in mind that ground conditions can change before the meeting and may affect races such as the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase – so always check the latest going update before betting. Final declarations and race cards are published in the days before each race, so check back closer to the event for confirmed runners and odds.
