Each Way: 1/3 Odds, 2 Places
The most common markets to get on in golf, are the outright markets. Here you will find odds on who will win any particular tournament. You can choose to bet either to win or each-way, with the place part of your bet covering the placed positions.
If you are looking for markets beyond the outright winner, Sky Bet has a number of other options, including the 1st/2nd any order, which requires you to pick two golfers to finish in the front two positions.
Tournament specials include a player to shoot a hole-in-one, someone to go wire-to-wire (lead from the end of round one to the final leaderboard) and leading European or American.
On each round of a tournament, we offer match betting between two players and mythical two/three balls. These require your golfer to beat their opponent(s) in the round that day, regardless of their position on the leaderboard.
Here is a look at the most popular golf tournaments available to bet on with Sky Bet.
Major tournaments: Masters, US Open, The Open, PGA Championship
The four majors in golf (Masters, US Open, The Open, PGA Championship) are the biggest tournaments in the sport. They involve all the leading players, and are the events that define careers in golf.
These tournaments tend to be the most popular in the golf betting space. You can find odds on the Masters golf and US Open throughout the year.
Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup
The Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup are team competitions that take place bi-annually. The Ryder Cup is played between the USA and Europe, while in the Presidents Cup, the USA face an international team. Betting is available on the outright winner of each of these matches.
PGA Tour, LIV Golf, European Tour (DP World) events
The PGA Tour, LIV Golf and European Tour (DP World) are the three biggest tours in men’s golf. They organise tournaments across the calendar year, and at Sky Bet, we offer betting markets on each of them. PGA betting odds are available on tournaments such as the PLAYERS Championship, Travelers Championship and TOUR Championship.
LPGA and Ladies European Tour events
The LPGA and Ladies European Tour and the two leading tours in women’s professional golf. You will find a full list of betting markets for each tournament when details are announced.
Once a golf tournament begins, we offer in-play golf betting until the tournament concludes. The odds fluctuate after every shot across the four rounds of that competition.
Live odds include tournament winner, end-of-round leader and selected three balls across the round. Live betting golf can be found in the in-play betting section.
If you are looking to bet on golf, there are aspects you should consider before placing your bet. A player’s form across the year and how they have fared at the course in the past are variables that should be considered.
The course conditions and layout will favour some golfers more than others, as will the weather forecast, particularly in events such as the Open Championship.
When making their predictions, pundits will also factor in the strength of the field at a tournament, the tee time and position. The latter can be significant if the weather forecast is likely to change across the day.
Once a golf tournament begins, in-play betting becomes available, with odds fluctuating after every shot.
You can bet on a golfer to win a tournament through Sky Bet’s outright market, either pre-tournament or in-play.
Pre-tournament betting is the market available before a shot has been played in the tournament, while live golf betting is in play following the opening tee-shot.
In three balls, you are betting on the player to have the best round of the three players grouped together.
You are betting on the player to win the tournament and the one to finish second, in the correct order.
If your golfer withdraws before the tournament begins, your bet is void and your stake is returned, however, if they withdraw mid-tournament, you will lose your stake.
In stroke play tournaments, you are betting on the player to have the lowest combined score over four rounds, while in match play betting, it is the player who wins each round of the tournament, including the final.
All bets will be settled based on the governing body of the tournament’s official result/rules.
